Dai-Sifu Rainer Tausend, the national Wing Tsun instructor for Ireland returned to Dublin for a weekend of seminars on April 2nd, 2011. Saturday morning saw Sifu Tausend give a presentation on the concept of Wing Tsun for kids and this is something that some schools may get involved in at a later stage.

The instructor seminar started at 2.30pm in the Blanchardstown School with participants from all five schools. After the completion of the forms, Sifu Tausend worked on some self-defence applications using only one hand rather than the standard two. Following this, the instructors worked on their individual programmes and at the end of the day Sifu Tausend awarded Paul Dickenson and John Young with their 8th student grade and instructors t-shirts. John and Paul have been students of Si-Hing James McQuaid school for the past few years and will now act as assistant instructors in his Belfast school.

Saturday was also the 40th birthday of Si-Hing Michael O Leary and with the help of the Wing Tsun instructors and students, he celebrated the event with a few pints in Dublin City Centre.

The student seminar began at 1pm on Sunday with Sifu Tausend checking the students performing the Siu-Nim-Tau and Chum-Kiu forms. Following this, students worked on various self-defence applications from the forms. After the break Sifu Tausend conducted the gradings.
